Purpose of the Position

The position of Youth Worker oversees day to day operations of programs and provides professional support services to young people with complex/challenging needs.  The Youth Worker is identified as a senior specialist who provides case management services and is responsible for managing their own work.  You will be working across the organisation but primarily responsible for the Get Set for Work program with young people coordinating Container Collect services (for more info on this program, go to www.runningwild.org.au/go-getters ).

Requirements of the Position

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent
  • Substantial industry experience
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Positive Notice Working with Children (Blue Card)
  • Current Positive Notice Working Vulnerable People (Yellow Card) or willingness to get
  • Open, manual driver’s licence

Duties

  • Initiation and development of youth programs which meet organisational goals and objectives and funding guidelines – this position will develop project plans that reflect goal attainment.
  • Provision of tailored Case Management services to overcome barriers to earning or learning activities – this position will provide individually tailored professional support services to young people in a therapeutic Case Management framework to successfully transition in to employment, re-engage in education or further training.
  • To identify and develop future industry relationship strategies to meet desired outcomes of education, training and employment – this position will undertake professional networking required to reach expected training/employment outcomes
  • Participate in technical and professional organisational activities including policy matters, financial administration, and personnel management – this position will provide leadership across all youth initiatives undertaken by the organisation.
  • Develop and implement techniques, work practices and procedures in all facets of youth projects – this position will develop structure and routine to meet operational requirements of youth programs.
  • Responsibility for decision making within the constraints of organisational policy and require all employees to provide advice and support to all facets of youth programs.  Employees will have significant impact on the establishment of policies and programs within the organisation. – this position will participate in collaborative processes to influence continuous improvement strategies.
  • Ability to formulate, implement, monitor and evaluate projects – this position will be required to maintain appropriate monitoring and evaluating practices regarding all youth programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in isolated locations – this position will have limited access to professional services and will be required to travel to offsite locations to access support to meet identified outcomes

Reporting Relationships

The Youth Worker reports directly to the CEO of the organisation.
